Courses I teach.

At Santa Ana College I teach:

• Business Applications 150: Introduction To Geographic Information Systems
  This course is an introduction to the concepts and uses of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and its role in analysis and decision making. Course work is based on the mapping and spatial analysis capabilities of the ArcView software program. Students will be introduced to basic cartographic principles, maps, scales coordinate systems and projections and apply these principles in their map making. Students will use ESRI's ArcView 9.2. All students will receive a 1 year version of Arcview 9.2. This class may be repeated.

• Business Applications 151: Intermediate Geographic Information Systems
  This course is provides further study in ArcView, it is a continuation of the skills and concepts learned in Introduction to GIS. Course work is based on the mapping and spatial analysis capabilities of ArcView software. Students will be creating and editing spatial data, geocode data, perform spatial data processing and conduct spatial analysis. Students will use ESRI's ArcView 9.2. All students will receive a 1 year version of Arcview 9.2.

• Santa Ana College's PSI (Public Service Institute)
  • Adobe Photoshop Beginning - Tues/Thurs Feb. 17 & 19, 2009, 8 am to 11:50am
    This is a two day class using Photoshop CS3. Students will gain practical experience using Adobe Photoshop with a focus on correcting digital camera and scanned images problems. We will delve into such topics as the Photoshop work area, tool usage, layers, cropping and straightening photos, sharpening techniques, fixing exposure mistakes and removing red-eye.
  • Adobe Photoshop Intermediate - Tues/Thurs Mar. 10 & 12, 2009, 8 am to 11:50am
    This is a two day class using Photoshop CS3. Students will gain practical experience using Adobe Photoshop with a focus on correcting digital camera and scanned images problems. We will delve into such topics as: color correction, adjusting flesh tones, converting color photos to black & white, retouching portraits, reducing freckles, wrinkles, removing blemishes, dark circles under the eyes and whitening teeth.
  • Adobe Photoshop Advanced - Tues/Thurs Apr. 14 & 16 2009, 8 am to 11:50am
    This is a two cay class using Photoshop CS3. Students will gain practical experience using Adobe Photoshop with a focus on correcting digital camera and scanned images problems.. We will delve into such topics as: repairing scanned photos by removing specks, dust and scratches; restoration of old photos, colorizing black & white photos, creating photo montages, and preparing photos for various types of output.
  • Adobe Photoshop Special Projects - Tues/Thurs Apr. 28 & 30, 2009, 8 am to 11:50am
    This is a two cay class using Photoshop CS3. Students will gain practical experience using Adobe Photoshop with a focus on correcting digital camera and scanned images problems.. We will delve into such topics as: repairing scanned photos by removing specks, dust and scratches; restoration of old photos, create Duotones, vignettes, realistic pencil sketches from a photo and panoramas.

At Coastline Community College I teach:

• BC160: Introduction To Geographic Information Systems

• CST 282-284 CO-OP WORK EXPERIENCE
  This course allows you to earn from 2 to 4 college units by applying what you are learing in your CST courses to your job. You and your employer, in cooperation with me, your Instructor will develop specific objectives related to your job. At the end of the semester, you, your employer and myself will evaluate your meeting of these objectives.
