Course Description
This course is designed as an introduction
to the Internet. The class topics covered in this class include the use of E-mail, Web browsers, searching techniques, guidelines for web site content evaluation, file transfer protocol, Internet resources, simple Web page development, ethics and security.

To expose students to the vast resources available on the Internet and the ethical, legal, security and social issues associated with these resources.

Performance Objectives
Upon completion of the course:
- Students will be able to configure and use a Web Browser
- Students will learn how to connect to the Internet and to secure their computers from intruders
- Be able to navigate rapidly and effectively around the Internet
- Students will be able to perform basic and complex searches to obtain information or files using the variety of search tools available on the Web
- Students will be given guidelines to evaluate a Web Sites content to determine if they d are factual and verifiable
- Students will learn about the ethical & legal issues regarding information and files available on the Internet
- Students will be able to send email and utilize email features such as attaching files, and using filters or rules to organize or block email
- Students will be able to participate in electronic discussions
- Students will be able to upload and download files using ftp
- Students will be able to create a simple web page and publish it on the Internet

This course is delivered completely online. Students will use the Internet to access lectures, required readings, required discussion sessions, and present the class project.
