Susan M. Sherod holds a B.S. in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana, IL (3.55 GPA), an M.A. in Industrial and Technical Studies from California State University, Los Angeles (4.0 GPA), and Master of Architecture from NewSchool of Architecture and Design, San Diego, CA (3.93 GPA). Sherod recieved two awards while at CSULA: Outstanding Graduate Student, and an Alumni Acheivement Recognition Award.
Sherod began her career in Architecture and is a licensed Architect in the state of CA. Sherod has taught CAD since 1993. Sherod has taught technical drafting since 1995. Topics taught have included math preparation, computer use, web page authoring and employment preparation studies.
Sherod joined the staff at Santa Ana College (SAC) Engineering Department in Fall of 2000. Past teaching assignments included College of the Canyons in Valencia, California, an AutoDesk Training Center at College of the Canyons, in Valencia, California, West Valley Occupational Center in Woodland Hills, California and ORT Technical Institute in Sherman Oaks, California. Sherod recieved the CAROP outstanding teacher award in the 1999-2000 school year.
Since joining Santa Ana College Sherod has created a new certificate program, Architectural/Civil Engineering/Construction Drafting and Design. Sherod has authored one temporary course and seven permanent courses since joining the Engineering Department at SAC. Sherod has enhanced her courses with Blackboard, the online software used by SAC. Sherod wrote a proposal for a grant for curriculum improvement in Summer of 2001 and was awarded a grant to develop one of the classes as 100% online which was the first such course available in the engineering department. Sherod has also contributed to the development of a tech-prep website for the SAC Engineering Department. Sherod's sabbatical work was focused in the area of Energy Studies.
